Homeowners Spring Cleaning Checklist for Each Room

Spring cleaning tips for homeowners by room. 

With spring right around the corner, now is the best time to refresh your home for the season. Follow along our homeowners spring cleaning checklist to make your house feel fresh and clean in each room. 

Cleaning Checklist 

Living Room

1. Wipe down surfaces that have dust or dirt on them.

2. Clean out the fireplace, if applicable.

3. Check for cracks, leaks, or other damage and repair them.

4. Wash or replace any curtains and blinds.

5. Vacuum or shampoo the carpets and area rugs.

6. Move furniture and vacuum or mop underneath and behind it.

7. Dust and polish wood furniture.

8. Vacuum and wipe down leather furniture.

9. Dust any electronics and check cords for damage.

Kitchen 

1. Start with the fridge. Remove all the food, discard anything expired or stale, and give the shelves and drawers a thorough cleaning.

2. Take the time to scrub the inside and outside of the refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher.

3. Wipe down all the cabinet doors and drawers with a damp cloth and all-purpose cleaner.

4. Remove all the food from your pantry and discard anything expired. Wipe down all the shelves and reorganize items for easy access.

5. Give the floor a good sweep and mop to get rid of built-up dirt and grime.


Bathrooms 

1. Go through your bathroom cabinets and clear out expired products, makeup, or medications.

2. Use a multi-purpose cleaner to wipe down the countertops, shower, and sink.

3. Use a toilet cleaner to disinfect the toilet and bowl.

4. Sweep and mop the bathroom floors to remove dirt and grime.

5. Wash all the bathroom towels and replace with fresh ones for a more inviting space.


Bedrooms 

1. Dust off surfaces and vacuum carpets and rugs.

2. Wash curtains, drapes, and bedding.

3. Organize and declutter closets and drawers.

4. Add an automatic air freshener. 

5. Deep clean windows, blinds, and lamps from dust.


Garage 

1. Go through all your items and get rid of anything you don’t need or use any more. Donate items that are still in good condition, and throw away anything broken or no longer usable.

2. Sweep and mop the floor, and dust any fixtures and shelves.

3. Install organizational storage systems, such as shelves, racks, cabinets and bins.

4. Label everything to keep track of what goes where and make it easier to find items in the future.
