Why You Need a New Home Warranty

February 4, 2021

The last thing you want when purchasing a new home is the added expense of unforeseen repairs. The process of buying a new home is stressful enough without having to worry about what might suddenly break down, stop working or fall apart.

When you move into a new home, it’s nearly impossible to know what has been truly well maintained or recently replaced. That’s why a new home warranty can offer you the ultimate peace of mind.

In addition to the complete coverage that a new home warranty provides, it also offers a variety of benefits that will ensure you rest easy in your new home.

2-10 Home Buyers Warranty

When you join a Legacy Homes community, 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty is your home warranty administrator. They have protected 5.8 million new and pre-owned homes since 1980. Their main focus is to reduce financial risks for homeowners and home builders alike. We are proud to offer homeowners a home warranty

An Overview of Your Warranties and What They Cover

With a new home warranty from 2-10, you’ll have complete coverage across a wide variety of your home’s most vital components and your workmanship warranty protects against any defects. Let’s go over what warranties are included and what they cover.

Workmanship Warranty

Your workmanship warranty applies to the materials used in your home, such as:

  • Roof Covering
  • Cabinets
  • Countertops
  • Door Panels
  • Exterior Siding
  • Basement Floor
  • Ceramic Tile
  • Drywall
  • Interior Trim
  • Carpet and Hardwood Floors
  • Paint
  • Fireplace

Problems appear, and we want to protect buyers from any added worry when it comes to moving into their new Legacy Home.

Distribution Warranty

Your distribution systems warranty covers everything that’s going on behind the scenes in your new home. Under this warranty, the following items in your home are protected:

  • Supply Piping
  • Waste Piping
  • Ductwork
  • Electrical Wiring

Structural Warranty

Even in a newly built home, unforeseen structural problems can arise. Your structural warranty covers the literal foundation of your home – from beams and frames, to your floors and foundation systems. No home is immune to occasional issues, so it’s important to be covered in case the unfortunate happens. These items are covered in your structural warranty:

  • Roof Framing Systems
  • Load-bearing Walls and Petitions
  • Beam
  • Columns
  • Footings and Foundation Systems
  • Floor framing systems
  • Girders
  • Lintels
  • Masonry Arches

However, there are a few exclusions that are not covered in your structural warranty such as retaining walls or bulkheads, boundary walls, driveways, decks and porches, detached carports, outbuildings, swimming pools or other exterior recreational facilities, or any other appurtenant structure.

How to Submit a Claim

In addition to extending coverage to every corner of your home, a new home warranty saves you the headache of having to research and hire repair services or contractors when an issue suddenly occurs. Not to mention, it saves you money.

We make it easy to submit a claim for any of your warranties. All you need to do is contact Legacy Homes who will receive your request and reach out to assess the damage and remedy defects that are covered under your new home warranty. However, you must notify us no later than 15 days after the expiration of your workmanship or warranty term.

To submit a claim for your structural warranty, you must contact your warranty administrator as soon as possible to report any damage, but no later than 30 days after your structural warranty term. You then must submit a $250 investigation fee that will be returned to you if there are structural defects found that are covered under your warranty.

No Added Financial Burden

After you buy a home, the last thing you want is to continuously need to invest in costly replacements or bear the financial burden of unexpected repairs. You’ve done the hard (and expensive) work of buying a home, and now you should be free to enjoy it.

Your home warranty can help mitigate the expense of being a new homeowner. The cost of system and appliance repairs can quickly skyrocket over time, outstripping the cost of simply investing in the coverage you need up front.

When you minimize these expenses, you leave your money free to do other, more important things! There’s no reason to dip even further into your savings in the years following the purchase of your new home.

Ultimate Peace of Mind

A new home warranty saves you time, hassle and money not only immediately following the purchase of your home, but for the many years that follow. With no way to predict the future, the best thing you can do is give yourself a way to easily, seamlessly and affordably deal with issues.

We would be thrilled to help you choose the coverage that best suits your needs. This year, we are proud to have received the 2-10 Home Warranty Premier Builder Achievement Award for the third year in a row. We care deeply about bringing affordable, stress-free solutions to new homeowners in our communities and we can’t wait for you to join one of them!
