Space Command Recognizes Rocket City as HQ Moves to Huntsville

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Huntsville, AL — Sept. 2025 — The U.S. Space Command will be relocating its headquarters from Colorado Springs to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. The announcement came during a White House press conference on September 2, 2025, when President Donald Trump formally confirmed the move, reversing the prior decision to maintain the command in Colorado.

Redstone Arsenal was originally named the Air Force's preferred site after a thorough review in 2021. Despite a temporary hold by the previous administration, this announcement reaffirms Huntsville’s strategic importance. Over the next five years, approximately 1,400 jobs are expected to transition to the region, marking a significant economic and infrastructure boost.

Mayor Tommy Battle expressed pride and preparedness, noting Huntsville’s infrastructure and community readiness as vital to supporting the transition. State and regional leaders echoed the sentiment, positioning Huntsville as “mission-focused” and confident in its capacity to serve the nation.
