Design Choices You Won’t Regret

Design Choices You Won’t Regret

June 14, 2021

When it comes to building your new home, you have many different options to consider. Choosing the right colors, flooring, floor plan, and appliances are just a few design choices you’ll need to make. We’re here to help you along your journey at Legacy Homes! Here are some tips on making design choices that you won’t regret in the future.

Transitional Color Options

Transitional colors have close to the same amount of warm and cool tones. The majority of colors might have 90% warm tones and 10% cool tones, but when it comes to transitional, it is more 50/50 or 60/40. Why is this important? Because when it comes to choosing paint colors or colors for anything in your new home, you want to choose a color that looks good with a variety of different things, such as furniture and countertops. Having transitional paint colors help you transform a room from warm tones such as yellow, to more cool tones such as blue or grey. You want to choose paint colors that have different shades, so you aren’t incorporating too strong of cool tones.

Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring

Vinyl plank flooring gives off the look of natural hardwood floors, while providing all of the benefits of vinyl plank flooring. Not only are LVP floors more affordable, they are also more durable, versatile, quieter, and have a longer lifespan than other flooring options. There’s a large misconception that vinyl planks look cheap, but that is not the case. You get the same great look and design as hardwood floors, but a multitude of other benefits that you wouldn’t otherwise get.

Open Concept Floor Plans

At Legacy Homes, we call our floor plans EASYLIVING™ plans. This is because they are designed to make living easier by adding more square footage to the areas of your home that you desire such as the kitchen, living room and Café. We chose these spaces to be named the Lifestyle Triangle™, because that is where the majority of your time is spent. When you’re wanting to cook, entertain or simply just relax, these areas of your home are your go-to spots. That’s why we believe they should have the most space and open layout dedicated to them.

A few ways we accomplish this are expanded kitchen islands, direct connect laundry rooms in the master closets, integrated living rooms, flex rooms, built-in drop zones and plenty of storage space. Learn more about our EASYLIVING™ plans.
