Design Choices You Won’t Regret

Categories: Uncategorized | Posted: June 14, 2021

When it comes to building your new home, you have many different options to consider. Choosing the right colors, flooring, floor plan, and appliances are just a few design choices you’ll need to make. We’re here to help you along your journey at Legacy Homes! Here are some tips on making design choices that you won’t regret in the future.

Transitional Color Options

Transitional colors have close to the same amount of warm and cool tones. The majority of colors might have 90% warm tones and 10% cool tones, but when it comes to transitional, it is more 50/50 or 60/40. Why is this important? Because when it comes to choosing paint colors or colors for anything in your new home, you want to choose a color that looks good with a variety of different things, such as furniture and countertops. Having transitional paint colors help you transform a room from warm tones such as yellow, to more cool tones such as blue or grey. You want to choose paint colors that have different shades, so you aren’t incorporating too strong of cool tones.

A few color options include off whites and greys, pale shades of blue or green, and light browns and tans.

Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring

Vinyl plank flooring gives off the look of natural hardwood floors, while providing all of the benefits of vinyl plank flooring. Not only are LVP floors more affordable, they are also more durable, versatile, quieter, and have a longer lifespan than other flooring options. There’s a large misconception that vinyl planks look cheap, but that is not the case. You get the same great look and design as hardwood floors, but a multitude of other benefits that you wouldn’t otherwise get.

Open Concept Floor Plans

At Legacy Homes, we call our floor plans EASYLIVING™ plans. This is because they are designed to make living easier by adding more square footage to the areas of your home that you desire such as the kitchen, living room and Café. We chose these spaces to be named the Lifestyle Triangle™, because that is where the majority of your time is spent. When you’re wanting to cook, entertain or simply just relax, these areas of your home are your go-to spots. That’s why we believe they should have the most space and open layout dedicated to them.

A few ways we accomplish this are expanded kitchen islands, direct connect laundry rooms in the master closets, integrated living rooms, flex rooms, built-in drop zones and plenty of storage space. Learn more about our EASYLIVING™ plans.

Energy Star Appliances

A top priority for Legacy Homes is energy efficiency. We accomplish this goal by using Energy Star® Appliances, Energy Star® Rated Low-E Windows, advanced framing techniques, improved insulation to reduce drafts and leaks, and High SEER-rated HVAC equipment for fresher air quality. What To Expect This Year in Huntsville, Alabama

Categories: Uncategorized | Posted: May 11, 2021

While the year of 2020 came with a lot of highs and mostly lows, 2021 is looking brighter everyday. COVID-19 restrictions are beginning to be lifted, and the community is excited to get back to their semi-normal lives doing the things they enjoy with people they love. So as a citizen of Huntsville, what can you expect for the rest of 2021 and early 2022?

It’s no secret that Huntsville saw a record amount of growth last year. Several companies invested in development projects to bring new jobs and more than $1 billion in capital investments. Some of these companies are well established members of the community, and others were brand new such as the new Facebook Data Center and Mazda Toyota plant.

Huntsville is now named the fastest growing city in the state of Alabama, and is on track to take Birmingham’s place as the largest city. With the population rising, as well as new well-known names making their stake in Huntsville, here’s what you can expect to see.

More Growth

With the rate at which Huntsville is growing, you can expect to see continued growth not only in Huntsville, but also surrounding areas such as Athens, Decatur, Madison and Harvest. Since 2010, the population has grown by 10% and in 2019 it was recorded that almost 200,000 residents call the Huntsville metropolitan area home. With more and more job opportunities and expansions, you can expect to see that number continue to grow.

New Businesses

Facebook’s Huntsville Data Center was first announced in 2018, and was met with much excitement. Since the finished project, they have announced an additional expansion resulting in their early success. Right now, the data center is a two-building structure but building three and four are in the works. Nippon Express, a logistics company, is expected to locate on the Mazda Toyota campus also within the next year, investing $19.1 million and bringing over 100 new jobs.

There have been several new developments when it comes to hotels, eateries, breweries and entertainment venues. A few include the new Rocket City Trash Pandas Toyota Stadium, Stovehouse (opening more restaurants in late 2021), Margaritaville Resort (anticipated 2021-2022), as well as an Amphitheater coming to Huntsville’s Midcity District.

Midcity is expected to add Huntsville’s Amphitheater, Trader Joe’s and a pottery studio, Color Me Mine. The new Margaritaville Resort will be located near the new Toyota Stadium, and will bring 150 hotel rooms, 3,000 square feet of meeting space, a lazy river and a water park!

Community Events

Now that we are able to get out and about more, residents are gearing up to attend some of the community’s most popular, as well as new annual events. Whether you enjoy farmers markets, music festivals, arts and crafts festivals, or cocktail parties, there are plenty of events happening this summer, and the fall in Huntsville, Alabama. View the full list of events here.

The Camp at Midcity hosts their farmers market every Sunday from 1-5pm. Other farmers markets include Oakwood’s Market, Greene Street Market at Nativity, The Providence Market and Lowe Mill’s Outdoor Market.

With so much happening in the city we call home, we can only expect to see more and more developments and expansions in the coming months and even years. Legacy Homes is proud to call the Huntsville Metropolitan Area our home.
